ISSA-Webinar series "Let's talk about OSH - Have you ever underestimated the hazards of installing solar panels?

15 April 2025

Virtual

The increasing demand for sustainable energy, particularly solar power, has led to a significant rise in the installation of solar panels. However, this shift towards green energy also poses significant challenges for occupational safety and health. The different stakeholders, such as electricians, roofers, and general contractors, may not always be fully aware of and familiar with the unique hazards associated with installing and maintaining solar systems. These include risks associated with working at heights, exposure to electrical hazards, extreme weather conditions and the physical demands of the job.

As the solar energy sector expands, ensuring proper qualifications and safety standards is crucial to preventing accidents and protecting workers.

What are obvious and hidden hazards when installing and maintaining solar panels? What are strategies to deal with these hazards? What role do contractor relationships in the solar industry play in this context? What can accident insurance institutions do to prevent accidents at work in the solar industry? These are some of the questions that moderator Bernd Treichel will be discussing with the speakers.
