ISSA Sessions during the “International Symposium on Safety, Health and Well-being for All” at EXPO 2025

16-19 July 2025

Osaka, Japan

For the first time in the World Expo history “Days on Safety, Health and Wellbeing” will be held in Osaka, Japan, on 16-19 July 2025. Several ISSA Sections are involved in this high-level occupational safety and health (OSH) event.

The ISSA Section on Prevention in Trade, Goods Logistics and Port Handling contributes to it with a practice track session on 18 July 2025, focused on global supply chains. Indeed, highly sophisticated supply chain networks are the characteristic way to organize activities needed to develop, produce, and deliver goods and services to the consumers in a globalized world with cross-border trade.

It is known that one of the main challenges in global supply chains is leveraging the supply chains for improvements in occupational safety, health and wel-lbeing (OSHW), because violation of basic human rights and/or occupational health and safety are often complained.

Against this background the need for OSHW improvement along global supply chains is widely recognized – but how can it be achieved? In the session various aspects and best practice examples of different industries are showcased.

Other ISSA Sections are involved in these topics:

  • The Vision Zero Strategy and its Global Implementation – Special Commission on Prevention
  • Changing Attitudes to OSH training: Vision Zero for a Changing World – Education and Training Section
  • Applying Vision Zero to Occupational Safety in Healthcare: How to Reduce Infection Risks, Musculoskeletal Strains and Mental Stress? Health Services Section
  • Navigating Workplace Safety in the Digital Age – Section for Machine and System Safety and Electricity Section
  • Hardrock requires Strong Culture: ESG and Sustainability begin in Mining – Mining Section

In addition to the International Symposium, there are numerous other interesting events as part of the EXPO2025, such as the World Assembly of OSH Professionals or the ILO Youth Congress.
